I waited for the 3G version of the iPad, and mine arrived Friday – on launch day. There are a zillion reviews and comparisons out there (appleinsider.com is a good place to look), so I won't remark about
Instead I'll make a few comments about my impressions so far:
1. Performance of the device is amazing. I'll let you know about 3G performance later today as I'll be using it on a long car ride today.
2. I'm a fast typer on a regular keyboard. I can't type as fast on the iPad as on a regular keyboard but I can type pretty fast. I'm typing this on the iPad with the virtual keyboard and it works very well. Maybe I'll download a typing speed app and get some real numbers.
3. iPhone apps that don't have an iPad version look awful. The are either tiny in the middle of the screen or you can zoom them up. But when you zoom to full screen everything is fuzzy. You quickly learn to avoid these apps.
4. It's easy to spend money on apps – too easy. The process works just like on the iPhone but the screen is bigger and more beautiful so there are lots of new ways for apps to look and work and it's easy to be tempted to just try a bunch for a few dollars.
