Fantastical – Better Calendar UI

Fantastical on the Mac App Store

I’ve used a bunch of Calendar apps but mostly I use the Calendar App that comes with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I used to try and sync with Google to share calendars and stuff, but that sync was never rock solid. BusyCal was pretty good for a while, but when Apple added sharing for MobileMe users, I switched back to that.

One thing I don’t like is adding appointments. Its not bad, it just requires more clicks than you’d think it should. Its not a very “Apple-like” experience.

So the guys at Flexibits came out with a lightweight little Mac app called FantastiCAL that adds a lot of polish to Calendar. And it works with OS X Calendar, Entourage or Outlook.

Despite Flash Fiasco, Adobe still loves Apple

AppleInsider | Adobe releases Photoshop companion apps for Apple’s iPad: “Adobe’s three Photoshop CS5 companion applications for iPad — Adobe Ezel, Nav and Color Lava — are now available for purchase on the App Store. “

And they look pretty good. I won’t review or recommend them because I’m not a heavy photoshop user (I can draw stick figures and thats about the extent of my talent) but I think they are important. Apple has a good visual creative partner in Adobe. They don’t really have one in the music niche, which is why Apple makes Garageband itself.

Adobe’s 3 new Photoshop apps are:

Footnote: IMHO, For a creative company, Adobe has terrible icons.

Navigon Navigation for iPhone

NAVIGON MobileNavigator North America for iPhone iPod touch and iPad on the iTunes App Store

I’ve tried a few of the iPhone navigation apps. And the best one I’ve found is Navigon. It uses a great combination of server-based and device based data to make the user experience during navigation outstanding. (Its a big app though cuz it’s got all the maps on the device.)

IM+ Pro

I use Instant Messaging to work with colleagues a lot. In fact, since I mostly work from my home office, IM is critical to my ability to communicate and get projects done.

Evernote

I use Evernote on my Mac every day. I use it to keep notes on projects, tasks, activities and just about everything else I would otherwise write in a notebook. It syncs automatically, so my laptop always has all my notes. I can also access and take notes on my iPhone or iPad.

Bose AM/FM Radio

I get terrible radio reception in my car, especially AM. This app figures out where you are, what all the radio stations in your area are, and then presents them in a radio-dial like way. It streams the data from those stations over the Internet (watch out if you don’t have an unlimited data plan). Cellular data (3G) works better than AM over-the-air.
