Interversant TV

Brian finds some pretty interesting videos related to technology.

GMailMan – the Spoof

Microsoft is well known for making campy, silly, sophomoric videos for internal use only. Once in a while, those “internal” videos is leaked outside of Redmond. Recently, I came across a humorous look at why Google is in the eMail business – as produced by Microsoft. Although it hasn’t been authenticated, there are several clues [...]

Old Tech Sounds …. Beautiful?

Remember when you used to have to use a modem and dial-up the Internet? I don’t know why they did it, but someone slowed that sound down 700%. This is what it sounds like:

2,000 Year Old Computer

Ever wonder what Apple software engineers do in their spare time? Me neither. But that’s ok – this is still pretty cool.   One Apple engineer built a replica of the not-so-famous Antikythera Mechanism entirely out of Legos. This “mechanism” was build around 100 B.C. by Greeks to accurately predict astronomical events. FastCodeDesign.com has an [...]

Be Inspired Today

Whatever it is that you failed to accomplish yesterday, take heart and try again today. If you’ve fallen, get up. Watch this video and then tell me how many times you had to fall before you accomplished your goal.

Everything is a Remix

Fascinating documentary on the process of creating. As you can probably tell, the narrator suggests that humans create very little “out of whole cloth” but instead create based on a series of iterations and recombination. Intended as a 4-part series, only the first three parts have been produced. Part 1   Part 2   Part [...]

Chromebook: $28/month

They are like laptops that don’t have programs – everything is on the web. You might call it a CloudBook. Chromebook: “Chromebooks are built and optimized for the web, where you already spend [...]

Music Beta by Google

Google announced Music Beta by Google recently. It looks pretty good – possibly better than Amazon’s attempt. But I still have to upload everything I own – which of course will take forever. Why can’t I just tell Google what I own and let them link to it in the cloud? Also, the only device [...]

Despite Flash Fiasco, Adobe still loves Apple

AppleInsider | Adobe releases Photoshop companion apps for Apple’s iPad: “Adobe’s three Photoshop CS5 companion applications for iPad — Adobe Ezel, Nav and Color Lava — are now available for purchase on the App Store. “ And they look pretty good. I won’t review or recommend them because I’m not a heavy photoshop user (I [...]

Angry Barrels

Pretty funny spoof of Angry Birds. Live action, special effects.

Sony Announces New Tablets

Ooooh. Wedge shaped. And the other one folds up. And it plays Playstation games. Reportedly, Sony wasn’t planning on entering the tablet market until it had something it was happy with. That’s smart. But what I don’t understand is why they are happy with these? What’s the differentiator other than the shape and Playstation games? [...]

Cracking Stuxnet

TED.com has an interesting TedTalk about Stuxnet, the cyberweapon. Likely created and launched by the US or an ally, Stuxnet was designed to specifically target and cripple Iran’s nuclear weapons program by destroying the centrifuges they use to refine uranium. Amazing.

Apple iPad vs. Motorola XOOM Android Tablet Comparison

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the Motorola Xoom and the original iPad. Despite it being posted on 4/9/2011, wekks after the iPad 2 shipped, they couldn’t compare the Xoom to the new iPad. Even so, there is little comparison. The original, year-old iPad obviously has a better display, and much more stable platform. The reviewer [...]
